Reduce your bills

Using solar panels to make your own electricity for your home is a great way to help you save money on your electricity bills. As you’ll be able to use some of your own electricity, you should need less from the electricity network.

What’s more, thanks to the Government’s Feed-in Tariff (FIT) payments, for 20 years you’ll be paid for all the electricity your solar panels generate and an extra amount for every unit you don’t use and export to the electricity network.

To find out more about the Feed-in Tariff and the recent changes to it, visit the Feed-in Tariff pages.

Proven solar technology

Made by leading manufacturers, our SolarSaver Electricity systems feature advanced technology that makes today’s installations more efficient than ever. As well as helping you save money, a SolarSaver Electricity system could help you lower your home’s carbon dioxide emissions.

Professional service from a dedicated team

We’ll make the whole process as straightforward as possible and can help with any paperwork. Our team will arrange a free energy performance assessment on your home as well as a technical assessment to check it’s suitable for solar panels. They’ll also guide you through the building approval process and even help you register for your Feed-in Tariff payments.

How it works

A SolarSaver Electricity system uses light energy from the sun to generate electricity:

1. The solar panels.

Solar electricity panels convert light energy from the sun into electricity. Although they work best in full sunlight, they’ll still work if it’s cloudy.

2. The inverter.

This converts the direct current (DC) power from the panels into alternating current (AC) electricity that can be used in your home. The inverter also allows the energy you don’t use in your home to be exported to the electricity network.

3. The smart generation meter.

Your smart generation meter keeps track of how much energy you’re generating. It automatically sends us this information, so you don’t need to take meter readings. We also use the smart meter to remotely monitor your system’s performance and output.

Brighter benefits of coming to E.ON

We’re offering a free Energy Performance Certificate assessment

To help you benefit from the Feed-in Tariff rate, we can arrange for a qualified EPC assessor to visit your home to find out its energy rating. If your home has an energy rating lower than ’D’, the assessment will show what it could be if a solar electricity system is installed. If a solar electricity system alone can’t improve your home’s energy rating to ‘D’ or more, we can offer cavity and loft insulation to help improve its energy rating even more.

Maximising your investment

We offer a specialist service where we’ll monitor your system’s performance remotely using a smart generation meter that we’ll fit in your home. So, if your solar panels aren’t generating as much electricity as we’d expect, we can quickly spot this and work to resolve the problem.

Protecting your investment if you move house

If you move house, we can give you a Solar Performance Certificate that will include a forecast for future electricity generation as well as the approximate amount of remaining Feed-in Tariff payments. You can use the certificate to show buyers the value of your SolarSaver Electricity system, which could prove an important feature when selling your home.

If you’d like to find out if you could benefit from a SolarSaver Electricity system and would like a more detailed quote, we’ll need to complete an assessment on your home. Simply send us an email and one of our advisors will call you back, or call us on 0800 015 9590. We’re here Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm.
